Brett Forgesson scored a decisive triumph in the North Shore 10-miler yesterday after clocking 52 minutes and 55 seconds to defeat second-place
the course in 55:50 to capture third.
Forgesson, who recorded a pace per mile of 5:18, proved a difficult challenge on a new race route, which started and ended at Shelly Bay Field.
Evian had long been a sponsor of the race, but withdrew when safety fears were raised because of road works along South Shore.
First woman to finish was Karen Adams, who continues to perform well this season, in 1:01:10. In second place was Maria Conroy Haydon, who ran in 1:02:14, followed by Lynn Kynoch in 1:05:10. Jane Christie was fourth at 1:07:15.
Rod Allen, fourth overall in the race, grabbed top spot in the Male Masters division with a time of 57:44. Harry Patchett crossed the finish line eight seconds later (57:52) to wrap up second place while Jeremy Ball was third in 58:58.
Giorgio Zanol earned top honours in the Male Seniors category when he crossed the finish line in 1:08:14. Second was Mike Rickards in 1:09:40.
First in the Female Masters division was Peggy Couper in 1:12:19, followed by Margaret Young Lever (1:14:28) and Debby Graham (1:24:02).
