SCHOOLS SOCCER SOC Sandys Secondary and Whitney Institute were the respective Senior and Junior winners of the Secondary Schools Six-A-Side Soccer Competition on Thursday at Shelly Bay field.

The Senior final was played between Sandys and Warwick Secondary and it turned out to be a real thriller with Warwick Sec.'s Blenn Bean missing two sitters moments from the end.

With the score deadlocked at 0-0 going into the second half, Aljame Zuill flighted a beautiful cross from the left side, which eluded the outstretched arms of the Warwick Sec. goalkeeper, Atiba Simons. As the ball appeared to be heading away for a goal kick, Kwame Tucker met it beautifully with his head to place it into the back of the net.

That turned out to be the only goal of the game as Sandys held on for victory.

St. George's, the defending champions, were eliminated in an earlier round.

The Junior final between Whitney and defending champions Berkeley also finished 1-0 after Whitney's Tariq White took a long pass from his 'keeper Kiare Hollis, controlled it, turned and slotted the ball home from the edge of the box for the winner.

This final proved to be more of a defensive battle with neither team giving too much away.

The tournament was without incident as games were played in good spirit. The officials for the afternoon were Terry Richardson, Herbie Bascome, Gregory Grimes and Lee Holder.
