Caisey survives spill to claim top prize
Shannon Caisey survived a spectacular crash during the final round of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's championship to take victory in the Grand Prix A class.
The club have flitted between Southside and Clearwater Beach car park all season, but were back at their original home for the year's climax.
Whether or not it was the faster Southside track that caught Caisey out or not is unclear, but on turn three during the day's second race he lost control of his machine and was lucky to escape unscathed. Showing his fighting spirit, Caisey remounted and went on to win.
Jason Dennis at last saw off Leroy Trott and Alex Dowling in Grand Prix B with three straight victories. Raymond Thompson finished second overall with his best showing of the season, Trott taking third and Dowling fourth.
A full grid of mini-bikes wowed the youngsters in the crowd and it was Caisey once again who proved unstoppable, taking the honours ahead of Vince Belboda and Paulo Silva.
In the Scooter class Davon Bailey grabbed wins in the first and second heats but Mark Lightbourne shadowed his every move.
And by the end of the session Lightbourne had scored enough points to take the overall victory.
Craig Ferguson also pipped Bailey by virtue of a better finishing order to take second.
Stock/Modified and Formula were combined for the day and in the latter Ed Daniels proved untouchable.
However, Kyle Constable put on a great show on the Sub-Zero sponsored Minstral 50cc machine and claimed second. Darren Dowling on his NSR 250cc bike was once again plagued by mechanical problems and was forced to settle for third.
Stock/Modified saw Glen Mello walk away with a hat-trick of wins, Kyle Pimental and Dennis Wilson finishing second and third respectively.
