Cash, 29, was the first of 38 swimmers to emerge from the waters of Horseshoe Bay on Sunday, completing the half-mile course in a time of 11 minutes and 18 seconds. A half-minute back in second was Claire Mancell, the top female, who finished in 11:49.

David Cash was third in 11.56 followed by Shona Palmer in 11.58.

The next race of the series on May 21 is unique because a) it's being held at relatively unknown Robinson Bay Park and b) it's on a Wednesday, at 6.30 p.m.

This is the second year of the series, organised by the Bermuda Triathlon Association.
