Spinning Wheel a 1-0 win over third-placed Robin Hood in the Commercial Division on Saturday.

However, Wheel failed to close the three-point gap separating them from leaders BAA after a late penalty miss by Stevie Riley enabled the Wanderers to leave Somerset with both points from a 2-1 triumph over Somerset Extros.

Steve Irvine netted both Wanderers goals, the second from the penalty spot, after Radell Tankard had given Extros the lead. Wanderers would have dropped only their second point in the league this season had Riley scored in the 85th minute. To add to Extros' gloom, Larry Smith was sent off in the second half.

Bottom teams Island Rangers and Exiles began their battle for survival in Group A with good wins in their first outings of 1994.

Rangers picked up their first win when they blasted mid-table KPMG 7-0 while Exiles moved off the bottom with a 4-2 triumph over Forties. Forties are now in last place, a point adrift of Exiles and Rangers.

Troy Berkeley and Michael Bremar both scored twice for Rangers while Lee Correia, Wendell Anderson and Walde Tensae supported with lone strikes.

Antoine Cannonier scored twice and Marvin Hassan and Martin Siese one each as Exiles came out on top against Forties. Siese closed out the scoring for Exiles with a thunderous dipping volley in the second half. Scoring for Forties, who trailed 3-1 at the half, were Andy Robinson and Franco Capparra.

Devonshire Colts All-Stars and North Village Rams continue to share the lead at the top of Group B after their wins on Saturday. Village edged out Genesis with Ralph Bean and Mike Levon scoring for Rams and Craig Tyrell for Genesis.

All-Stars defeated Valley by the odd goal in seven when Jimmy Tweed scored twice, including a penalty, and Lynn Virgil and Marvin Campbell the others.

Dennis Trott and Kevin Isaac (two) scored for Valley.

Bottom teams Fire Service and Prison Officers remain winless from six matches.

But while Officers were being hammered 5-0 by Lobster Pot, Fire Service came from 2-0 down to earn at point against St. George's All-Stars at Wellington Oval.

Patrick Stone scored a hat-trick for Lobster Pot while Phil Kaye and Joe Barboza got the others.

All-Stars had a good start when Cal Rayner and Ricky Smith scored penalties in the first half. However, Fire Service came charging back to finish 2-2 thanks to goals from Troy Furbert and Shawn Grant.

There was also a change at the bottom of the Alliance Division Group A where St. George's crashed to last place after going down 3-1 at home to Somerset.

Richard Scott netted all three goals for the Trojans while William Richardson scored for the home team.

PHC moved ahead of idle Hamilton Parish on goal difference following their 2-2 draw with Devonshire Colts. Colts twice led, first through Phillion Webb in the 18th minute and then again in the 40th minute after Troy Crockwell had equalised in the 26th minute. Mark Smith scored the second equaliser in the 57th minute.

At the top, first-placed North Village had a 4-2 away win over Dandy Town to move two points clear. Darren Simmons and Milford Waldron scored for Town.

Boulevard were the biggest winners, thrashing Somerset Eagles 10-1 in Group B while eight goals came in the BAA-Southampton match, which leaders Rangers won 5-3. Donald Hall, Gregory Steede, Dijuan Simons, Jason Burgess and Herbie Dillas scored for Rangers while Aaron Simmons, Will Carpenter and Giovanni Bell replied for the home team.
