The Water Sports Division commended Government leaders, Marine Police and Fisheries Wardens for an inquiry into the use of pots, which resulted in several arrests and boat seizures recently.

Marine Police arrested five men and a woman in two separate incidents recently. They were interviewed and released on Police bail, pending charges.

In a letter to The Royal Gazette this week, division spokeswoman Joan Ward also commended Environment Minister Arthur Hodgson for involving the community in a review of the Marine Resources Green Paper.

"This participatory process is vital if we are to implement policies that will be supported by all members of the community and by all stake holders,'' she said.

"We believe it is critical that we speak out in support of good work that is being done by this Government.''
