There are close to 150 entries for the various events. The opening ceremonies take place at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the first track event, which is scheduled for 6.30p.m.
The first events are the javelin, high jump, long jump and 800 metres. On Sunday, the programme will continue at 5 p.m. with the high jump, javelin, triple jump and 100 metres.
The Somerset Brigade band will lead athletes on during opening ceremonies followed by the honour guard from the T.S. Bermuda Sea Cadets. The Bermuda national song will be song by Patrina O'Connor.
SCHOOLS CRICKET CRI Somerset Primary School completed the double yesterday when they defeated Francis Patton by nine wickets in the Nine-A-Side final at Royal Naval field.
Scores: Francis Patton 70, Somerset Primary 72 for one.
Robin Swan, who with Melvin Brangman was the architect of the double-wicket triumph earlier this month, had another good all-round showing.
Swan took two for eight and then saw the victory through with 17 not out.
Brangman top-scored with 19 while Steven Astwood was the other unbeaten batsman with 15.
Greg Outerbridge was Francis Patton's top scorer with 14 runs and Cooley Durham made 10.
NETBALL NET The Bermuda Netball Association recently held its annual general meeting and saw Larry Dennis elected president.
Other officers chosen were Debra Saltus (first vice-president), Penny Henry (second vice-president), Wendy Godfrey (secretary), Jean Charles (treasurer), Dena Richardson (assistant secretary/treasurer).
Council members selected were Shirlene Bascome, Tanya Boyles, Dawnette Burgess, Idetha James and Donna Tucker.
SOFTBALL SOF Robert Dill, Frank Morgan and Dean Williams have achieved the official status of qualified umpires after recently taking a course in Venezuela. The trio were presented with certificates last Saturday.
SOCCER SOC Somerset Trojans will have a training session for senior players tomorrow morning at Somerset Primary field starting at 9.30. Players are asked to report on time with full (white) training gear.
YOUTH BASEBALL BAS The Youth Athletic Organisation of USNAS Bermuda will hold a prize presentation at the front gate Little League fields in the St. David's today starting at 9 a.m.
