Cleveland face tough opener
finalists Cleveland will take on Camel Cup champions St. George's in the first round of the Knockout Cup this Saturday.
It will be the busiest weekend of the cricket season so far with seven knockout matches to be followed by seven Premier and First Division games on Sunday when St. George's and Western Stars meet for the second straight weekend.
Because of Hamilton Parish's withdrawal, the knockout only has 15 teams instead of 16. As a result Bay have already advanced to the quarter-finals which are scheduled for June 13.
The St. George's-Cleveland clash at Wellington Oval will see Cleveland looking to avenge their 1996 loss to the east enders in the final. Last year they went down to Bay in the final.
Two other all-Premier Division matches see Willow Cuts taking on Southampton Rangers at Somerset and Police meeting Devonshire Rec. at Police Field.
Western Stars are at home to Somerset while Flatts play PHC, St. David's host Somerset Bridge and Warwick entertain Social Club.
