College heads to tourney
when they travel to Washington, D.C. for four matches in six days during spring break.
Led by coach Allen Richardson, the team will consist of 17 players, including some from the First Division.
Among them are Mitchell Trott of Boulevard, Jamal Dill of North Village, Desmond Crockwell of St. David's, Don Vickers of Southampton Rangers, PHC's Corey Dowling and Hotels goalkeeper Stefan Duprey.
The team will leave on Monday and play their first match the next day against a Maryland under-19 select squad. On Wednesday they will play Prince George's Community College and on Thursday meet the Gallaudet Community College.
The tour will close next Friday with the toughest match, against Howard University. The team will have next Saturday off before returning on March 15.
"We really fancy our chances against the community colleges, but obviously Howard are in a class above us, I would imagine,'' said Richardson.
The funds for the trip came from various fundraisers, as well as donations from the players' clubs and local businesses.
Richardson said the College is aiming to enter a team in the Commercial League next season.
