Come and see Imps in action
Government House yesterday and are set to wow the crowds at the City Hall car park tomorrow.
His Excellency Governor Thorold Masefield, and Mrs. Masefield led the 37 member Honda Imps team through the security sensitive corridors upstairs at Government House.
The children walked through the Queen's bedroom and admired the Governor's parade dress uniform.
The visit was part of an exhibition trip to Bermuda, that includes performances at the Agricultural Exhibition 2001 and the City Hall car park.
Before leaving yesterday afternoon, the team presented Mr Masefield with a gift wrapped box from the Mayor of the London Borough of Newham.
There will be a free preview of the team's skills at the Hamilton City Hall car park tomorrow.
City of Hamilton officials are asking motorists to leave the car park by 6 p.m. today and tomorrow.
Corporation Secretary Roger Sherratt said the show will start at 7.30 p.m. but the Imps need a full practice session today before the performance. The show will also feature the Warwick Gombey Troop.
The City will mount lights and seating in the car park for the one-time show.
"We think it will be a once in a lifetime event for a great deal of people,'' said Mr. Sherratt.
And while the Imps will be performing during the AG Show, organisers wanted to "make sure the public was really aware of who was going to show up this year'', said Mr. Sherratt.
He said the Corporation was approached to put on a show on Front Street.
"We're so excited, we would put on a real show at the City Hall,'' he said.
Mr. Sherratt said the Corporation has invited veterans of the former Bermuda Police Force motorcycle riding display team to watch the show. The event is sponsored by Colonial Insurance and City Hall.
