Corless tops in J24 series
Class Match Racing qualifiers in Hamilton Harbour on Saturday.
Six boats took part with each racing the other in 15-knot breezes. Most matches were surprisingly close and by the last race two boats were tied with four wins to set up an exciting final between Anarchy (Corless) and Centipede (Tim Viney).
Anarchy won that duel to finish with a perfect record and take overall honours for the day. Corless now advances to the Gosling's Black Seal Cup, the Bermuda National Championships of match racing, which will be sailed later in the year against qualifiers from other classes.
Saturday's event was organised by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club race committee with several rule infringements keeping the on-water judges busy.
Final positions: 1 Jon Corless (5-0); 2 Tim Viney (4-1); 3 Pete Ramsdale (3-2); 4 Rikki Hornett (2-3); 5 Paul Wright (1-4); 6 Shane Gill (0-5).
