Cricket bad boys banned
the recent Camel Cup semi-final between St. George's and Western Stars.
St. George's batsman Jason Lewis received a three-game suspension for using foul language after being given out caught behind at Police Field. Hasan Durham of Stars was slapped with a two-match ban for knocking the stumps out of the ground moments after St. George's clinched a thrilling one-wicket victory on May 15.
The two suspensions took effect last weekend when both players sat out their first match.
The Board has been swift to act on umpires' reports, honouring a recent promise by president El James to support officials on such matters.
"We promised the umpires we would deal with such cases as quickly as possible,'' said disciplinary committee chairman Reggie Pearman.
"Players must adhere to the code of conduct that was presented to all the clubs. The Board is determined not to tolerate bad behaviour.
"We'll take each case on its merit, of course, with fair representation.'' Lewis will not be eligible to play again until June 20, missing the next two league matches against Police and Devonshire Rec., while Durham will end his suspension after Sunday's match against Social Club.
