Crunchtime, owned and driven by 16-year-old Colby Sousa, emerged as the three year old champion before a large New's Year's Day crowd at Vesey Street.
But there was only one two-year-old and one four-year-old which left Tux's Little Rocket (Aaron Sims) and Fernando Rego's Little Bear as the automatic winners.
Zeno Cooper was the day's top driver, winning two heats with Custom Eyes'd. He now has one leg out of the Junior Free for All division. Cooper also won with Penny's Wildwood in 1:14, his fastest time in Bermuda.
Among the double winners were Nick DeCosta with Jennifer Time and Anthony Rego with TW Second Try. Robert Lopes made his driving debut with Motown Scott, finishing second in heat nine. There are now three generations of the Lopes family driving at Vesey Street.
Miss LL Dane, driven by Colin Mello, won heat 16 in 1:11 and now moves up to the 1:10-1:11/3 time bar.
The day ended with two Powder Puff races for ladies with no racing experience.
The first heat was won by Melinda DeCosta, driving Nateway, with Katrina Adcock and Championne County second.
Then Betina Truran won the second heat with Jennifer Time followed by Sonia Whited with Tell Me About It.
