tomorrow when they travel to Somerset to meet Willow Cuts in the day's top match.

Following last weekend's loss by Bailey's Bay to Police, St. George's hold the distinction of being the only unbeaten team in the Premier Division -- all this without captain and top batsman Wendell Smith who is still sidelined with a knee injury.

In fact their unbeaten run stretches back to the middle of last season when they began a seven-game unbeaten streak to the end of the season -- making it 13 games in all since they last suffered defeat in the league.

Except for Devonshire Rec., St. George's have not met any of the serious title contenders yet. They will be looking to get through this weekend's match with seventh-placed Willow Cuts with their perfect record still intact so that when Smith returns next month, possibly for their next league match against Bailey's Bay on July 11, they will still be holding onto the top spot.

"That's the game I'm looking forward to playing in,'' Smith said. "I'll miss the (West Indies Board Select) tour and will use this month to recover from the injury.'' St. George's have not yet fielded their strongest team with Smith's vice-captain Graham Fox also being sidelined through injury as Clay Smith took over the team.

"The team morale is very high and I'm sure Graham and Clay, the two acting captains, deserve a lot of credit with the entire team,'' said Smith.

"We still have the main matches to come, Western Stars, Bailey's Bay and Police, so there is still a lot of work to be done. We still have not had our full team, having played without Kenny (Phillips), Yuk (Anthony Trott) and Ricky Hodsoll at different times. Hopefully when we get everybody back we will be more difficult.'' Willow Cuts have proven to be a difficult opponent at times, and St. George's will remember their 34-run loss to them in 1990 at Royal Naval field. However, Cuts looked vulnerable last weekend without their captain Dexter Basden as Hamilton Parish handed them a shock defeat at Wellington Oval and St. George's will be hoping to take full advantage of that setback.

The last two league meetings between the teams ended in draws but an outcome is certain and St. George's should have the edge. Last season Cuts were knocked out of first place when they could only manage a draw at Wellington Oval, so revenge could be on their minds.

Quite a number of teams will be rooting for Willow Cuts tomorrow, including Bailey's Bay and Western Stars who are two points behind the leaders. Bay are at home to Somerset Bridge at Sea Breeze Oval while Stars entertain Somerset at St. John's field in another interesting clash, which sees Andre Manders of Stars going up against his former team who will be led by brother-in-law Perry Maybury.

Somerset have climbed to fifth in the standings with four wins from six matches and are one of four teams tied on eight points -- Southampton, Cleveland and Cuts being the others.

Southampton are at home to their tenants Warwick, the bottom team in the division, while Cleveland travel to Wellington Oval for a clash with Hamilton Parish. Parish continued the sequence of surprise results this season with a shock win over Willow Cuts and Cleveland will not be able to take them lightly.

Flatts, one of the surprise teams so far, are at home at Devonshire Rec. to Police who bounced back from a couple of bad losses by handing Bailey's Bay their first defeat last weekend.

In the other matches, St. David's take on Social Club at Lord's while PHC are at home to Devonshire Rec. at White Hill field.
