Darts team just miss out
account of themselves at the Caribbean Darts Championships in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Dave Griffin and Gregor McQueen lost a gruelling men's doubles semi-final 2-1 to Florida, while Griffin and Liz Hickmott reached the mixed doubles final only to lose 2-0, again to Florida.
The Bahamas were comfortable winners of the trophy overall, their 193-point total placing them well ahead of second-placed Florida (145) and third-placed St. Lucia (138).
Bermuda's record of four wins, four draws and three defeats was only good enough for seventh place.
With their 6-6 draw against Bahamas, Bermuda came closer than anyone to beating the champions. Highlights of that encounter were Vernon Daniels and Judy Wright beating Smith and Johnson and Jimmy Pratt's victory against Earl Smith.
Griffin won the 180 Trophy for six maximum scores, while other outstanding performers were Brenda Hutton with a 7-1 record in ladies' singles and McQueen with a 6-1 record in men's singles.
