DeGraffe in driver's seat
wins to his total in last Friday's harness racing meet at Vesey Street.
A bigger than expected crowd saw DeGraffe win two heats with Gusto's Cracker Jack, who now moves up to the Junior Free For All category.
Cracker Jack will join stablemate Rocket Ride, who also won two heats in the Junior Free For All A division.
The Free For All division produced some exciting races, with Grand Shady and Michael DeCosta winning both of their races in identical times of 1:06.3, while DeCosta's new new pony, GV Colonel Spence, won his first race in the Free For All. The other win in that division went to Eddie Roque's Tuxedo's Bowtie.
Show Time, driven by Zeno Cooper, was a double winner in the 1:16 and slower division and now moves up to the 1:13.4-1:15.4 time bar.
Trott Acre Abby Lass (Keith Woodley) is also on the move. She won both heats of the 1:13.4-1:15.4 time bar, edging out Leroy Tucker's Pleasant Surprise by 0.2 seconds each time. Both ponies have one leg out of their division.
Veteran trotter Diamondway won both heats in the 1:09.2-1:11.2 A time bar.
SMITH LEADS LASER FLEET SLG Smith leads Laser fleet A total of 17 Lasers made the starting line at the weekend in what were some of the best conditions experienced this season.
The venue on Hamilton Harbour witnessed winds out of the east-north-east ranging from eight to 14 knots.
The first three sailors from a week earlier again contended with Malcolm Smith swapping positions with Christian Luthi. Smith won the day with five victories and Luthi came in second with two triumphs.
Brett Wright finished third, winning three races, but was unable to match the consistency of Luthi and trailed him by three points.
Todd Olson finished fourth with 37 points.
The closest battle of the day was for fifth place with three boats within a single point of each other.
Martin Vezina was leading the final race when his mast broke leaving Craig Davis to eventually take fifth on 44 points. Ted Wood beat Vezina on countback after both finished on 45.
