DeMoura sets early pace
Bermuda Senior Amateur Championships got underway yesterday at Belmont.
Carrying a 16 handicap, DeMoura carded a net 67 to lead Fred Wheatley by two strokes after 18 holes at the Warwick course.
In third place stands Conrad Henry on 70, with 36 holes left to be completed.
Among the gross division Brendan (Bees) Ingham sparkled with a 77, while close on his heels were Peter Tucker and Henry, both recording scores of 78.
The Paget Lions Club's Sixth Annual Charity Golf Classic will take place on Saturday, May 20 at Belmont Golf and Country Club.
Beneficiaries of the event will be two local charities -- The Leon Gibbons Memorial Scholarship Fund and STAR.

CRICKET CRI The North Village Community Club will be holding a training session for all juniors (Under 17) interested in playing cricket for the club this season at Victor Scott School field on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.

A meeting scheduled by Bermuda's `Golden Oldies' for tomorrow has been postponed with a new date to be announced in June.
TENNIS TEN The Bermuda Professional Tennis Association will be holding a drill session for all interested Commercial League players on May 28 at the Tennis Stadium.
A fee of $5 per person is being asked for the session, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., with registration at 1.30 p.m.
