For Daihatsu Second Division champions Cougars, the victory was important in that it gives them an added boost going into Sunday's Shield final against BAA at National Stadium.

Looking ahead to the weekend clash, BAA will have to battle the tough Cougars team without the services of left-back Wayne DeSilva who was sent off by referee Lyndon Raynor for swearing.

The departure of DeSilva after 59 minutes led to the onslaught with Cougars hammering home three goals.

The first half was keenly contested with Cougars building a 2-1 lead on goals by Frederick and Wali Salaam.

Frederick put his team 1-0 ahead after 11 minutes only to see BAA equalise after 16 minutes through Mike Richardson. Salaam re-established the one-goal lead for Cougars with a good effort after 27 minutes.

After DeSilva got his marching orders, Cougars went on the rampage and were on the scoresheet within seven minutes when Salaam netted for a second time.

This was followed up by two more goals from Frederick after 82 and 85 minutes as the Second Division champions ended the league campaign unbeaten.

Somerset Eagles 3, Prospect 2 Eagles were reduced to 10 players midway through the second half, but managed to hang on bravely to beat a determined Prospect team at White Hill field.

Midfielder Terrence Christopher, scorer of one of the goals for Eagles, was the man given his marching orders. But Prospect were just unable to take advantage. In addition to Christopher, Eddie Callendar and Sam Maybury netted for Eagles while Tracy Adams and Andrew Rollins scored for Prospect.

Hamilton Parish 6, Paget 1 Paget would have been to see the end of the 1993-94 season, after this latest hammering at Wellington Oval took their goals conceded to 33 in the past five games.

Walton Burgess started the Parish goal rush by breaking the deadlock in the sixth minute before Shane Burgess made it 2-0 in the 17th. Chris Caisey helped himself to two goals in the 19th and 31st minutes before Dennis Trott added a fifth in the 41st minute to put Parish firmly in control at the half.

Anwar Hunt pulled a goal back for Paget in the 64th minute only to see Johnny Nusum hit Parish's sixth 12 minutes later. Paget, who had two players sent off in last weekend's 10-0 thrashing at the hands of Somerset Eagles, lost Arnette Fough late in the second half for a deliberate hand ball.

Wolves 1, Social Club 0 Wolves closed out their unsuccessful promotion campaign with a narrow win over Social Club at PHC Stadium. Shannon Berkeley scored the winner in the 28th minute.
