loop to win Saturday's national senior cross-country title at Astwood Park.

Smith, widely regarded as the Island's number one distance runner, had no answer to Donawa who pulled away at the end of the 7.2 mile race to win by just five seconds.

Donawa clocked 41 minutes, 48 seconds and Smith 41.53 with Calvert Lee coming home a distant third in 44.49.

There were no such surprises in the women's race as Anna Eatherley added to her long list of local triumphs with a convincing victory over the five mile course.

Eatherley crossed the line in 34.39, more than a minute ahead of second-placed Lynn Patchett (35.47). Victoria Fiddick placed third in 39.14.

PAGET GO TOP SOC Paget go top Ireland Rangers 0 Paget 3 Paget stormed to the top of the First Division with a comfortable victory over Rangers at Malabar Field on Sunday.

Striker Dennis Russell continued in his rich vein of form by scoring two of the goals while Shawn Yorke netted the other for Paget.

Rangers must be sick of the sight of Russell who tallied five goals against the west enders in a week after scoring a hat-trick in Paget's 3-1 win when the sides met in the Shield Competition at BAA Field last Tuesday.

Paget have now won three of their four league games and lead second-placed Somerset Eagles by a point.

More than 6,000 athletes aged over 50 took part in this month's Games in the city of St. George.

The Games, which serve as a qualifying event for other international senior competitions, have attracted athletes from all 50 American states as well as 40 foreign countries during their 13-year history.
