Volunteers are busy helping to fit lights around the Vesey Street facility and Bermuda Equestrian Federation president Mike Cherry said they hoped to have the big switch-on before October was over.
He said the floodlights, which were granted after a long and controversial planning battle, would enable them to use the centre periodically for races and other activities.
In the meantime, he said the harness racing season would begin on October 1 during the afternoon. He added that the lights would allow occasional race events to take place at night, along with dressage, jumping and other activities.
