Eton scrape home

Eton College 198-8 (target reduced to 194) Eton College picked up the second win of their Bermuda tour, edging a Under-19 East Select at Southampton Oval yesterday in the closest match of the four so far. The rain-hit match did not end until 7.40 p.m. when Eton reached their reduced target with two wickets intact.

Opener Timothy Hawk guided the visitors to victory with a well struck 78.

Edward Fielding added 25 valuable runs in the middle order, before both fell to spinner Landro Minors who broke up their 59-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Minors, the eighth bowler used, finished with three for 20 from three overs while his St. David's club mate Delyone Borden claimed two for 32 and opener Jim West two for 35.

Another St. David's player led the scoring, as Chris Foggo scored 72 off 12 fours and a six to lead the East Select to a good total. Captain Stephen Outerbridge, with whom Foggo added 107 for the fourth wicket, was next high man with 49 which came off seven fours and a six.

Eton conceded a total of 61 extras, including 33 wides. Sam Collins and Edward Williams, who shared the new ball, each took three wickets.

Today the tourists meet Under-19 All-Stars at Sea Breeze Oval.
