Everything to play for -- top and bottom!
Division as both the chase for championship honours and the battle against relegation head for a thrilling finish.
Second placed North Village will see their hopes of winning the title dashed if they lose against Vasco at BAA Field tomorrow and leaders PHC defeat Somerset Trojans at Somerset. But a Village triumph combined with a PHC loss or even draw would take the title race right down to the final matches of the season.
Third-placed Dandy Town and fourth-placed Wolves have seen their chances evaporate in recent weeks, yet mathematically Town are still alive. A PHC loss and a Village defeat could revive their hopes providing they beat relegation strugglers Boulevard on their home ground at St. John's Field.
At the bottom of the table, three teams are in practically do or die situations as they struggle to avoid joining already-relegated St. David's in the First Division.
Southampton Rangers, Boulevard and Somerset are all in dire straits with the latter facing a title-hungry PHC team who are bidding to lift the championship in their first year back in the top flight.
On paper, Rangers have the easiest task of the relegation candidates as they travel to Lord's to play St. David's, while Boulevard face a more formidable challenge away to Dandy Town.
Nobody is more aware of the importance of winning tomorrow than Village coach Kenny Thompson who is in position to claim both the league and FA Cup crowns if his side remain undefeated for the rest of the season -- although in the league Village need some help from PHC's opponents.
"Our season has come down to three matches -- the two league games and the FA Cup final,'' said Thompson.
"The thing is, we've got to control what we can control, we cannot control what PHC do against Somerset or against Wolves. So if we take care of our two matches, then we'll let the chips fall where they may.
"Both Somerset and Wolves could take points off PHC. Both matches are critical for the respective teams. Somerset could mathematically still go down and Wolves are trying to finish as high as possible in the league -- but we can't concern ourselves about that too much.
"Our business is trying to secure six points so if PHC do slip up we can sneak in there. It would be very disappointing for us if PHC did slip up and we failed to take advantage of it.'' Village enter the clash against Vasco tomorrow inspired by their 2-0 triumph over Southampton last Sunday at Bernard Park and their midweek FA Cup semi-final win over Vasco. But Vasco will be eager to reverse Tuesday night's 2-1 loss.
PHC remain firm favourites against a Trojans team who are lacking confidence after suffering the indignity of a home defeat against St. David's last Sunday.
The 3-2 setback was one of the biggest surprises of the season and it is going to take a huge effort from the West Enders to pick themselves off the floor and deny the league leaders.
Dandy Town will be favoured to take maximum points from Boulevard who, despite snatching a point from Wolves a week ago, didn't really suggest they have the ability to turn things around at this late stage.
Clearly lacking firepower up front following the loss of Dwight Warren to Village at the start of the season, Boulevard will depend on strikers Stevie Wade, Vernon Phillips and Shakia Crockwell to lift their performance and lead from the front. But the odds are on Town to win by a comfortable margin.
At Lord's, Southampton, another team with problems in attack, will pin their hopes on players such as Janeiro Tucker, Craig Brangman and Kwame Tucker to escape the drop.
And they could pay dearly for any complacency against an improved St. David's outfit who will be fired up after their first victory of the season last week.
In the First Division tomorrow, leaders Devonshire Cougars should continue their fine run with a win at Wellington Oval against St. George's while second placed Ireland Rangers face a battle against Hamilton Parish at Lord's.
Third placed Social Club should have it easy against Prospect at Bernard Park and fourth placed Somerset Eagles should also be too strong for Paget at White Hill Field.
