Fire, Hood share top spot
Raiders top Group B after three matches in the Commercial League.
Fire lead their division on goal difference over Hood, both having collected maximum points following their third straight wins on Saturday.
The firemen stopped North Village Rams 2-0 with second half goals from Kenneth Bartrum in the 56th minute and Randy Boyles in the 83rd. Sherwin Hollis of Rams was sent off in the 15th minute for violent conduct.
Hood extended their winning streak with a 5-1 hammering of bottom team Prison Officers who were just promoted.
Former Vasco defender Paul Towlson scored a hat-trick with strikes in the sixth, 20th and 88th minutes while other goals came from Barry Edeon and Jarleth McCabe. C.Smith replied for Officers on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot.
Fire and Hood now hold a five-point lead over MR Onions and Lobster Pot who drew 1-1 in their match. The Onions goal was an own goal by Tim Brown while Tony Smith netted for Lobster Pot.
Champions BAA Wanderers, sixth in the standings but with a game in hand, followed up their 2-1 win over Second Division team Prospect in the FA Cup in midweek with their first league win. They defeated Mariners 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, Wanderers' goals in the 50th and 80th minutes by Kevin Hanson and Arthur Reilly were sandwiched around a goal on the hour from Carlos Lopes.
In Group B, PHC Raiders (formerly Spinning Wheel) scored four goals for the third straight match in beating last-placed Bermuda Pest Control 4-2. Jack Castle opened the scoring in the 18th minute for Raiders before Boucetta Yuossef netted twice in the 44th and 55th minutes and Brian Anderson hit the fourth in the 60th minute. E.Spence scored one of the Pest Control goals in the first half.
Second-placed Exiles are the top scorers in the division after their 7-2 hammering of Wolves Pack as both Craig Tyrrell and Craig Crichlow scored hat-tricks. Alan Johnson got the other goal for Exiles while Cecil Hendrickson and Paul Douglas replied for Wolves in the first half. Derrick Douglas of Wolves was ejected in the 49th minute for foul language.
Valley hammered Somerset Extros 7-1 with Kevin Isaac scoring a hat-trick and Anthony Smith, Aaron Carmichael, Kevin McNeil and Joseph Moniz all netting one each. Andy Laws replied for the Extros.
The other two matches finished in draws, Devonshire All-Stars and Devonshire Lions 2-2 and St. George's All-Stars and Belco 0-0.
Johnny Robinson and Lyle Millett (own goal) were the All-Stars scorers while Ernest McCallan and Raynel Perinchief replied for Lions.
