with a 4-2 thrashing of previous unbeaten leaders Valley in the day's top match.

For Service the result marked sweet revenge against the same side who ended their unbeaten run when they were last in B Division two seasons ago, and by the same score to boot.

The home side sprinted into a 3-0 lead at the half, with Troy Furbert scoring twice and Wendell Simmons adding one before Valley finally found their footing.

Valley came back with a pair of goals from Timmy Telford, but were floored for good as Andrew Griffith sealed the deal with Service's fourth.

The three points gave the firemen 12 points and allowed them to move two points clear of Valley, Prison Officers and North Village Rams, all of whom have 10.

Rams now stand second after they demolished Somerset Extros 7-3 in a goal-fest at the west end, exploding in the second half after the first ended with the sides locked 2-2.

Leroy Wilson and Alan Fray both scored two goals apiece for the winners, while single strikes came from Garrett Dill, Cal Dill and Wendell Baxter. Donnie Simmons (two) and Craig Brangman replied for Extros.

Officers struggled to get past cellar dwellers Belco 5-4 in another high scoring affair. Oral Swan (two), Vernon Martin and Anthony Dill scored for Belco, while the names of Prison Officers' scorers were unavailable.

At Shelly Bay Devonshire Lions fought back from behind to upend Exiles 3-1.

The home team took a deserved lead through Allan Johnson as they controlled the first half, but had few answers in the second as the visitors raised the ante.

Ernest McCallum stood as the hero for Lions, scoring twice, while Donald Norford made certain of victory with the third goal.

The other affair saw Wolves edge Bermuda Pest Control 3-2. Kenny Francis and James Braithwaite scored for Pest Control, while the names of Wolves' scorers were unavailable.

With leaders BAA Wanderers idle, Robin Hood took the opportunity to move closer to the top of Commercial Division Group A, easing past St. George's All-Stars 3-0 at Wellington Oval.

Kevin Thomsett, John Beardsley and Stan Henhouse each found the range for the victors, who led 1-0 at the break.

Hood moved to 10 points, two less than Wanderers, who face Mariners tomorrow night under the lights at BAA Field.

Maintaining third position -- also with 10 points -- were Spinning Wheel, who came back from the brink to defeat Lobster Pot 4-3 in a rousing affair at PHC Stadium.

Wheel entered the match with only seven players and soon fell behind to a full strength Pot, who led 2-1 at the half.

However, as Wheel's numbers increased so did their fortunes, much to the chagrin off the visitors.

Des Minors and Keith Bell were the marksmen for Wheel, while Chris Eaton, Bob Markovsky and Neil Abbot got on the scoresheet for Pot.

Locked alongside Wheel and Hood are perennial challengers Island Rangers. They notched an away win against Forties, beating the latter 2-0 at White Hill Field as single goals in each half by Wolde Tansae and Troy Berkeley settled matters.

MR Onions moved a place up to seventh on the tails of a surprise 3-1 beating of Devonshire Colts All-Stars in a match where Onions scored all four.

Gary Knight, Don Smythe and Rob Newman all scored goals of the conventional variety, while Alister Morris took a turn from the norm, tucking one in his own net.
