Matches went according to form in the third round where Frost beat Dennis Pearman 21-12, 21-12, Berkeley got by veteran Mansfield Smith 21-19, 29-27 after a series of deuces in the second set when Smith stubbornly staved off defeat. In other third round matches Dexter Smith beat Jamel Warren 21-15, 21-8 and Phillip Hackett came from behind to deny Lindo another upset, beating him 22-24, 21-12, 21-11.

Frost and Dexter Smith advanced to the final with victories over Berkeley and Hackett in the semi-finals and Frost extended his unbeaten run for the season with a four-set victory over Smith who last won the national championships in 1993.

Frost and partner Ternier came within one match of defending their doubles titles, losing 21-17, 21-12, 21-19 to Berkeley and Durham in the final. That was the bright spot in an otherwise disappointing day for Durham who was also upset in the consolation final by Mike Daniels 21-18, 21-17.
