Georgevic is key man for BFA in UK

television coverage of Shawn Goater's games at Rotherham on local television, will act as a representative for the Bermuda Football Association in England.

Georgevic, until last week a lawyer with local firm Cox and Wilkinson, will be working as a link between the BFA and Britain in areas such as tour arrangements, players' assistance in England and referee and coaching courses.

Georgevic will not, however, be acting as a legal representative for the BFA.

His appointment was natural, said BFA administrative assistant David Sabir, once it was learned that Georgevic was returning to his native UK. Georgevic has a keen interest in the game and is a shareholder at Premier Division side Coventry City.

"He is a very avid supporter of Bermuda football and also has a keen interest in our players, especially those who are in England,'' Sabir explained this week.

Georgevic has taken a particular interest in Goater's professional career and has provided him with legal advice. He also helped set up the Bermudian youngster with an agent in England.

"He can be a valuable asset to us,'' admitted Sabir. "He will keep open the general lines of communication between ourselves and the European environment.

He will essentially do a lot of groundwork for us that we are not able to do in Bermuda.'' Goater has vowed to bounce back after being dropped by Rotherham on the weekend. The striker came on as a substitute last night for the final 15 minutes as Rotherham beat Wigan 4-2 to advance to the second round of the Coca Cola Cup on a 5-2 aggregate.

Goater lost his place when Imre Varadi returned from suspension and the fact that Varadi has scored in the last couple of matches means that Goater has a tough job trying to regain his spot. Initially it was thought Goater would partner Varadi and new signing Ian Halliwell but Des Hazel has been retained in attack instead.

"He (manager Phil Henson) could be doing this to see my attitude,'' said Goater last night. "It will only do me good. I'm going to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in. We've got a reserve match against Scunthorpe (tonight) and I'm hoping to get on the scoresheet to show I'm not giving in that easy.''
