Goater gets hero's welcome
to the Island this evening.
Goater, who had the whole Island pulling for him when he guided Manchester City back into the English Premiership last month, scoring 29 goals, will be greeted at the airport by Sports Minister Dennis Lister. The Bermudian was subsequently named Manchester City's Player of the Year.
Goater and another professional, David Bascome, will hold their annual soccer clinic for local youngsters from July 3-9.
MOTORCYCLE CHAMPIONS CROWNED RAB Motorcycle champions crowned Championship plates were awarded in five categories as the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club concluded their season with prize-giving.
Aaron Persad won the title for Mini Stock, Kyle Pimental in Stock, David Jones in Modified, Justin Belboda topped the Formula/GP list and Mark Lightbourne headed the Scooters classification.
Special mention was made of the various sponsors involved in making the season a resounding success, while also singled out was Termel Wolfe, the youngest members to catch the racing `bug' and who was named `Most Outstanding Rider, and received a trophy taller than himself.
"Motorcycle racing has left the start-line and is approaching the first bend of a permanent home. Once that is past, the open straightaway beckons,'' said BMRC president David Jones in conclusion.
"I'm sorry I broke three rackets but I think it helped me at least win one set.
