Hodgson stars in upset win
semi-finals on Tuesday night by Prison Officers, falling 6-3 at their home venue.
Officers' surprise victory was mainly thanks to Curtis Hodgson who won all three of his singles matches and spearheaded the two doubles wins with Cal Butterfield and Barry Rahman.
Rahman defeated Mike Sterling in the opening match to get Officers off to a winning start. Hodgson then upset Myron Piper 21-19, 21-12 to give Prison Officers a lead which they never relinquished.
Hodgson went on to defeat Mike Sterling 25-23 and 21-6 before completing a superb night by upsetting Alden Ray 21-14, 21-17.
Hodgson and Rahman also upset the formidable pair of Piper and Ray 21-19, 21-19 in doubles. Ray won two games and Piper one for the losers.
Other action saw Old Colony Club, playing without injured Bermuda number one ranked player Nick Frost, defeat Eastern Stars 6-3. They now meet Prison Officers in the final which has been put back to March 27 at BPSA.
Dave Waltham was in fine form as he routed Mansfield Smith 21-7, 21-8, beat Kevin Lapsley 21-5, 21-6 and then got over Craig Trott 21-9, 21-12.
Chris Fleming avenged two earlier league defeats by beating Trott and Smith.
The teams split the doubles.
