Hoe Down hits top form
this season on Sunday at Vesey Street.
In the most exciting race of the day, in the 1:12/2-1:15/4 time bar, Sandacre Tashiba (Reggie Matthie) led the way from pole position until the last corner when Hoe Down Don powered around the outside to win by three-fifths of a second.
Motown Scott driven by Eddie Roque and Maple Hill T Bird (Francis DeSilva) followed in third and fourth.
In the second heat, Hoe Down Don had the advantage of pole position and led all the way home. However, the fight for second and third came between Sandacre Tashiba and Motown Scott.
Motown Scott played it safe by sitting on the outside wheel of How Down Don but coming around the last corner he went slightly wide, giving Sandacre Tashiba enough room to sneak through on the inside.
In the free for all, Shamrock Tuxedo (Eddie Roque) got his revenge over Eddie the Great (Francis DeSilva) who had beaten him a week earlier.
Shamrock Tuxedo led all the way, closely followed by Eddie the Great. The second heat saw another win for the track record holder.
In the B Division of the junior free for all, Melody Time (Jonnie Five) continued his winning streak, beating Catch A Fire (Tom Matthews) and Gusto's Crack Jack (Bobby DeGraffe). The second heat was also won by Melody Time but Gusto's Crack Jack, who had been having problems keeping in gate, scorched around Catch A Fire to take second place.
The A Division of this bar was won by Ponda Babe (Daniel Greenslade) in both heats. It proved a disappointing race for Carolina Jubilee (Murray Terceira) who could not keep at a pace, coming out of the start gate for both races and giving Custom Eyes (Francis DeSilva) two easy second placings. TW Second Try (Fernando Rego) won both heats over Bermuda Warrior (Francis DeSilva) and Trotacre Abby Lass (Paschal Duckett) continued her unbroken string of wins, beating Paceway Debutante (David Mello) and V Six (Andrea Westerfield).
Just A Gigolo (Michael Roberts) had a successful day, winning both his heats against Penny's Rocky Road (Anthony Stevens) as did Jandy's Giddy Up Go (Edward Roque) against Jannaway (Michael Rodrigues).
Todd Ebony (Timmy Boyles) won one heat of the 1:20-1:26/4 bar against Bad Boy Tony (Nicholas DeCosta) and Charger's Rob Roy (Colin Mello) but the second heat belonged to young DeCosta when Bad Boy Tony overtook Todd's Ebony at the paddock corner second time around.
Next race day is Remembrance Day, November 11, followed by more racing on Sunday, November 13.
