Hood cling to Commercial Division lead
with Robin Hood managing to hold onto the lead in Group A, while Somerset Extros were relieved of their position at the top of Group B.
Hood stayed in front by virtue of superior goal differential over BAA Wanderers via a 2-0 win over bottom club North Village Rams, but were made to fight to the end.
Late second half goals by Tim Perry, who atoned for an earlier penalty miss, and John Beardsley finally settled the affair in favour of Hood.
Meanwhile, Wanderers also saved their best for the second period, as they held off the challenge of Spinning Wheel to emerge 2-0 victors, with Andy Powell and Alistair Smith netting a goal each.
Former leaders Island Rangers kept in touch, getting the better of a 4-3 score-line in their fixture against swooning Exiles.
Blaine Outerbridge scored two goals for Rangers, while Troy Berkeley and Michael Bremar scored one apiece. Shawn Simmons, Raymond Durham and Alan Johnston replied for Exiles.
The lone other game in the group saw Forties and Lobster Pot battle to a 1-1 stalemate, as Carlos Lee put Forties ahead in the second half, before Nigel Goodlad levelled things for Pot.
In Group B Devonshire Colts All-Stars improved their chances for promotion as they soundly defeated Somerset Extros 3-0 at the west end.
A hard-fought first half produced no goals, but Devonshire atoned in the second with three strikes as Extros folded.
Jeff Richardson opened the account with a well-taken strike from just inside the penalty area, turning on a dime and firing home, while Marvin Campbell shot home following a corner and Steve Simmons completed the scoring with a break-away effort.
Devonshire now lead the group by a point, just ahead of Extros.
Fire Services, which dominated the first half of the season, were again held to less than maximum points, drawing 0-0 with KPMG to remain third.
