aspect will be continued, with the advent of a memorial golf tournament in his honour.

Friends of the late former Southampton Rangers cricket captain and bar owner will tee off on Saturday at Belmont Golf Course (7.30 a.m. shotgun), with memories of the benevolence shown by Raynor, dubbed the `Mayor of Southampton'.

"He had such a pleasing personality and was always willing to help his fellow man who may have found himself in some difficulty,'' said Aldwyn Savery, one of tournament's organisers and past president of Southampton Rangers Sports Club.

"Many people called him uncle, he was just an all around nice guy, who really cared about people and his community ... it's been a very sad loss.'' Raynor, the uncle of former Cup Match stars Lee, Eldon and Sheridan Raynor, succumbed on New Year's Day to a stroke, hence part-proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the stroke unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The fee for those entering the event are $65. It will be played under the Captain's Choice format.
