Isaac, Carulla set for final showdown

finals he won last year in the Bermuda International Badminton Tournament which ends this evening at the Mount St. Agnes gym -- with Mario Carulla his opponent in all three finals.

Isaac came from behind to beat Mark Manha of the United States 10-15, 15-5, 15-2 after Manha set the stage for an exciting match. Isaac's opponent will be Carulla of Peru who beat the Caribbean's mixed and men's doubles champion, Robert Richards of Jamaica, 17-18, 15-8, 15-3.

Isaac also reached the final of the mixed doubles, alongwith partner Sarah Hardaker of England, and their opponents will be Carulla and Linda French of the US who beat Richards and O'Connor 17-14, 15-3 in last night's semi-final.

Carulla is also in the men's doubles final where he and Richards, his roommate on the island, advanced after beating Louis Ooi of Bermuda and Russ Okuno of the United States.

The women's singles final will be between Dr Debra O'Connor of Trinidad, the Caribbean champion, and Hardaker.

The finals, open to the public, will kick off at 6.30 and the presentation will follow afterwards at BAA.

In the ladies consolation final Donna Beach of the US beat Jackie Hart 11-2, 11-2.
