And the new Transport Minister Erwin Adderley hopes that a coalition will enable the 300 or so jet ski operators to continue their sport without the imposition of strict legislation.

Mr. Adderley has met with an official from one association and after reviewing its rules, said he hopes to do a similar thing with other groups across Bermuda.

The moves were already under discussion at Government level, when a North Shore man, Al-Reulle Shamsid-Deen, was killed after a collision between a jet ski and a fishing boat.

Mr. Adderley said: "We want to work with the clubs to get a solution.''
