Kavin coasts to victory in half marathon

Smith completed the 13.1-mile course from St. George's to Hamilton in one hour, 10 minutes, three seconds to win by more than eight minutes from second-placed Sylvester Jean-Pierre.
Jamal Hart finished third in 1:20:10, while Calvin Steede placed fourth and Leon Bascombe fifth.
Jean-Pierre took the men's 40-49 title, though his time of 1:18:39 was more than a minute outside the age group record which he set last year.
Smith's time was well outside his event record of 1:08:51 which was also set last year, but he continued his dominant form on the road-running scene in the run-up to January's International Race Weekend.
Anna Eatherley also successfully defended her title in the women's event, and set a new event record, clocking 1:23:56 to finish sixth overall.
Lynn Patchett (1:27:30) was the second-placed woman, with Karen Adams (1:31:59) third, while fourth-placed Jane Christie won the 40-49 age group in 1:35:10.
Bill Ledrew was the top finisher in the 50-plus age group, finishing five minutes clear of Michael Whalley, while Dorothy Gilchrist was the sole finisher in the women's 50-plus event.
The race attracted a field of 55 runners.
