The annual Fidelity Couples Race is determined by the combined time of each partner, one running five miles and the other five kilometres. And yesterday honours went to teenager Mark Morrison, who finished second overall beind Smith in the five miler, and his team-mate Brooke Petersmeyer, who placed sixth among the 5K field.
Morrison clocked 27.08 and Petersemeyer 19.41 for a combined winning time of 46.49. That was more than a minute ahead of Smith, who won the five miler in a fast 26.27, and his partner Dawn Symonds who clocked 21.28 for a combined 47.55.
Another quick time belonged to Brett Forgesson (28.52) and Anna Eatherley (18.15) who easily won the husband and wife category in 47.07.
