Kemo Simons, Chris Maxwell and Robbie Smith were the overall winners of their respective classes when the Pepsi Motocross nationals continued on Sunday at
Simons had two wins to take overall honours in the 80cc class, though he did not have things his own way as Shaki Easton and Jamel Hassell led the opening laps of the first and second races before being overhauled.
In the third race, a momentary lapse enabled Hassell to pick up his lone win, having earlier finished second in the first moto before having trouble on the new jump in the second moto. He incurred a technical penalty upon returning to the race and was given a placing of ninth.
Shaki Easton, Jason DeSilva and Howard Paynter had some races together with Paynter coming out on top with a third overall.
Chris Maxwell once again fought against his brother Leroy in the 125 C class where each had a win and a second over Michael Burgess. In the tie-breaker Chris took over first place with Leroy second on the last lap.
Aaron Pace got his first win of 1994 after 15 laps, with Buddy Joell and Smith not far behind in third. In the second moto Smith, with Pace nipping at his wheels, beat Joell on the washboard for first. Pace had to fight for second over Joell and then a rear flat allowed Joell to close up but remain in third.
It was Smith, Pace and Joell again in the third moto when the `woops' caught Pace and Leroy Maxwell at the last lap flag. Joell was promoted to second after Pace recovered to finish a few places behind.
