Leaders Canaries took full advantage of a weakened Swifts team to thrash their bottom-of-the-table opponents 6-0 in Bermuda Ladies Hockey Association `A'
With four players away in Barbados with the senior national squad, Swifts did well to hold on for 20 minutes before conceding their first goal.
Fielding three 13-year-olds, Swifts also played Sharmini Thamomeram in the unnaccustomed role of centre back and Listette Ming at sweeper.
But once Canaries had opened their account, there was little doubt about the outcome.
Rhonda Rawlins netted twice and Ali Cameron once as the leaders romped into a 3-0 lead by the half.
Cameron completed her hat-trick with two quick goals after the break and Sandra McDougall added the sixth.
In the other `A' Division game, Bluebirds edged Cardinals 1-0, the only goal coming early in the second half. Bluebirds might have scored again but for a fine penalty flick save by 'keeper Edna Mae Tuzo.
With `B' Division leaders Swallows idle, second-placed Canaries took the opportunity to close the gap to four points as they beat Swifts 3-0.
Ali Cameron gave Canaries the lead in the first five minutes, but despite creating several chances it wasn't until late in the game that Clare Desmond and Georgi Barbosa managed to put the game out of reach.
Third-placed Bluebirds also moved within four points of the leaders with a 1-0 win over Cardinals.
SQUASH SQU Julian Rose defeated Tony Prentice 15-11, 15-12, 15-13 to send his team into the semi-finals of the AF Smith Corporate Squash Tournament.

IRM defeated Let It BNTB 5-4 as Michael Goulet defeated Dave Conte. The other quarter-final saw MEDCO defeat Princess Hotel 7-2.
