And he intends to stay on the US West coast where he will continue his training in a bid to represent Bermuda at future international Games.

Looby said in a telephone interview yesterday he had joined the Senper Enduro cycling team in Walnut Creek just outside San Francisco.

In his first race with the club over the weekend -- the 80 mile Snelling Road Race -- Looby said he finished with the main pack in a sprint finish after which he was given the same time as the leader, two hours and 55 minutes.

"I believe I was in the top 25 percent although I don't know my exact position,'' he added. "I was happy with my performamnce but I would have liked to have finished in the top ten.

"I guess I'm not going to the Pan-Am Games, so I'll stay here and continue to race and train. I'd like to aim for perhaps Bermuda's CAC Games team.'' McInnis Looby
