Marshall recalled for Pakistan tour
preparing for this weekend's two-game series against the Pakistan Test team.
The Bailey's Bay and St. George's Cup Match batsman is called up after physical problems forced him to withdraw from the national team he was to captain on a six-game tour of Barbados on March 5.
Having been given clearance to resume his cricketing career, after receiving medical attention in Bermuda and Baltimore, Marshall has responded well. He obviously attracted selectors in his last game on Sunday when his stroked-filled innings of 69 helped Bailey's Bay to an easy Premier Division victory at Devonshire Rec.
The setback caused him to miss out appearing against Derbyshire last month as well.
Yesterday the talented batsman expressed his delight over being recalled. "I would be willing to play in five or six games for Bermuda against Pakistan, if it was possible,'' said Marshall after last night's squad session.
He added: "The board know that I am very committed and that they can get 150 percent out of me. I feel extremely good these days. I started out being a little timid and nervous in my first game against Hamilton Parish on April 18, but I have gradually become more and more confident the more I play,'' he said.
The player was surprised on Sunday after his fine innings when he was extended the invitation by the board's selectors, but he had no reservation over accepting it.
"I really was surprised but I realise that they are well aware that I am one of the individuals who has always been totally committed when it comes to the squad. They know what they can get out of me.'' Marshall is believed to have been added to the squad as insurance in case skipper Albert Steede and Roger Trott stay on the injured list.
