Neil's at it again
Croix and Claire Sousa set out for the Channel Islands today to compete in Sunday's Jersey Triathlon.
De Ste. Croix, returns to his native homeland following three years of self-imposed exile in Bermuda hoping that it is a triumphant one.
However, he would be satisfied with anything better than the performance turned in on Sunday when he faded badly after a solid swim leg to finish seventh.
"I don't know about my chances but it's going to be interesting,'' said de Ste. Croix, whose strength lies in his running and unyielding desire to catch the person in front of him.
He also allayed any concerns about taking part in two triathlons in consecutive weeks.
"It'll probably help me after having such a bad race here. I expect to have a much better time of it this time around.'' A large British contingent is expected, including professional Robin Brew, a frequent participant in the now-defunct Bermuda International Triathlon. He was 25th in the pro division at the World Championships in Muskoka, Canada, last month and warrants close attention.
Sousa was seventh in the women's division here in just over two hours and trods into unknown territory.
