No mercy shown to Prospect, BAA
and St. George's All-Stars in the Commercial Division were the big winners in soccer action on Saturday.
Devonshire Colts blasted Prospect 9-2 with Theron Smith and Kenny Dill both scoring twice while David Gibbs, Aljame Zuill, Dennis Williams, Brent Minors and an Antoine Fox own goal provided the other scoring for Colts. Former Colts players Erskine Smith and Tracy Adams replied for Prospect.
Port Royal celebrated their return to the Alliance Division with a 9-0 hammering of 10-man BAA as Mark DeMoura scored a hat-trick and Nakia Wilson netted twice. Joe Rodrigues, Giovanni Wilson, Craig Trott and Cameron Rawlins were the other scorers for Port Royal.
St. George's scored a surprise 5-0 win over Boulevard in a Group A match with Duvall Smith and William Richardson scoring twice and Del Tyrell getting the other.
Dandy Town beat defending champions North Village 3-0 away with Lionel Cann scoring twice and Frankie Simmons getting the other, while Southampton travelled to Wellington Oval and beat Hamilton Parish 3-1. Antoine Tucker, Kenny Burt and Delbert Doars scored for Rangers with Sean Smith replying for Parish.
Somerset and PHC drew 1-1 in the other match with Derek Robinson netting for Somerset and Cal Waldron replying for PHC.
St. George's All-Stars were the big winners in the Commercial Division, thrashing Prison Officers 5-0 in their Group B match at Malabar field. Cal Rayner netted a hat-trick while Stephen Paynter and Eugene Pascoe scored one each.
Devonshire All-Stars started their season with a 2-1 win over Coca-Cola as Larry Benjamin and Shawn Bolton scored for them and Sinclair Trott replied for Coke.
The Exiles-North Village Rams match and the Group A match between KPMG and Spinning Wheel were not played. There was no referee and an unmarked pitch at the first match and the second was called off because the pitch was not marked -- both at Shelly Bay where strangely enough All-Stars and Coca-Cola had earlier played.
Defending Group A champions BAA Wanderers squeezed out a 1-0 win over Fire Service thanks to a penalty from Steven Irvine, while Island Rangers were the high scorers, thrashing Forties 4-2 after trailing 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining.
Keith Bremar scored twice for Rangers while Blaine Outerbridge and Lee Correia got the others. Roy Fellows and John Dempster scored for Forties.
Lobster Pot had a good 2-0 win over Robin Hood with goals in each half from John Stevenson and David Marchant sealing the win.
