No respite for sad hotels
A stunning goal by Dwight Warren 10 minutes from time boosted Boulevard's championship challenge and plunged Hotels into deeper crisis.
There appeared to be no danger when Warren picked up the ball 35 yards from the Hotels goal.
But he set off on a blistering run, beat one defender and unleashed an unstoppable shot past 'keeper Randy Darrell.
It was no more than the Blazers deserved, as they recovered from the loss of an early goal to take charge of this match.
Hotels came out determined to put the nightmare of last week's 6-0 Friendship Trophy thrashing at the hands of PHC.
And star striker Ricky Hill almost buried the ghost as early as the second minute.
He hit a scintillating 30-yard volley but it dipped too late and crashed against the crossbar.
A few minutes later, team-mate Eugene Simmons also tried his luck from long range, hitting a thundering drive inches over the bar.
In a see-saw opening half-hour, Boulevard almost took the lead themselves but had a shot frantically cleared off the line.
It was not difficult to see how PHC knocked in six goals against a Hotels defence, who got themselves in trouble time and again through poor clearing and a lack of understanding.
No better example was a chronic mix-up between Darrell and one of his defenders after 27 mintues, which saw a back-pass beat the 'keeper and head for an own goal before it was finally cleared.
A goal from either side seemed inevitable and, in the last 15 minutes of the half, there was one from both teams.
Hotels took the lead in the 30th minute after a beautifully weighted free kick by Derek Bell carved open the Boulevard defence and found winger Coolridge Bell.
Running at speed, Bell cracked a first-time shot, which 'keeper Mitchell Steede could only parry, allowing Bell to follow through and score from close in.
But they did not keep the lead for long. In the 40th minute, Darrell needlessly gave away a penalty when he brought down an attacker who was not in a scoring position.
Darrell almost made amends when he guessed correctly which way Albert Smith would hit his penalty but the 'keeper dove over the ball and it went under his body to tie the score.
Boulevard carried the momentum over to the second half and began to take control.
Hotels, still dangerous particularly through Coolridge Bell, whose skill enabled him to beat his man on several occasions but poor crossing let him down.
Substitute Stevie Dickinson added a new dimension to Hotels' attack when he came on but both he and Eugene Simmons squandered chances.
As the game wore on, Boulevard turned on the pressure and had several scoring chances.
On one occasion, Philip Smith headed off his own goal-line to save his team.
Just when it seemed that Hotels might hold on, up popped Warren to score a goal out of nothing.
Only a brilliant reflex save by Darrell a minute later prevented Warren from grabbing his second following a marvellous run and cross by Vernon Eve.
