disappointment for Devonshire Colts All-Stars but delight for Fire Service and MR Onions.

For All-Stars their relegation from Group A marked the culmination of a second half slide that witnessed them lose seven of their last nine matches.

They entered Saturday's match with a clear mandate: Win and stay up; draw or lose and have their fate decided by the outcome of the MR Onions versus Lobster Pot contest, with victory by the former opening the trap door.

Much to All-Stars' chagrin the worst case scenario unfurled, as they lost 5-4 to Mariners and then watched as Onions upset favoured Lobster Pot 2-1, moving to eighth in the standings on 14 points. The Devonshire club fell to ninth with 13 points, joining basement dwellers Forties on the downward journey.

To their credit All-Stars put up a fight until the end despite falling behind early to Mariners, who led 3-1 at half-time.

That lead was increased to 4-1 before All-Stars produced a second half burst, storming back to within a goal at 4-3 and later 5-4 before time expired.

Frank Massaflora tallied a hat-trick for Mariners, for whom Gil Rodrigues and Joe Barboza also scored, while All-Stars replied through Darrin Lewis (two), Larry Benjamin and Jeff Richardson.

Onions were allowed to breathe a collective sigh once Neil Clemens notched a late winner after Mark Bridges had earlier equalised with a well taken free kick.

It was a come from behind effort for Onions, who trailed 1-0 at the break to a Bob Markovsky strike.

At the top half of the tables Robin Hood marked the end of a solid campaign by seizing second place ahead of Island Rangers, overrunning the Dockyard outfit in alarming fashion.

Hood ran out to a 3-0 lead and ended comfortable 7-3 winners, with John Beardsley ravaging the visiting defence for four goals, while Alex McLaughlin managed a pair and Alan Mooney one.

Troy Berkeley, Michael Bremar and Roger Williams scored for Rangers.

The win boosted Hood to 38 points after the two sides entered level at 35, with Rangers ahead on goal difference.

Champions BAA Wanderers rounded out a brilliant year with a 3-0 defeat of St.

George's. Steve Irvine increased his season tally to 15 with two goals, while Stuart Drake added one.

At White Hill Field league leading marksman Des Minors scored once in each half to lead Spinning Wheel to a 2-1 triumph over already relegated Forties, moving his total to 27.

Derek Patience scored for Forties, whose future is up in the air after struggling to field a full side for much of the season and stand likely to lose some members in the off season.

In Group B there could be no denying Fire Service joining North Village Rams in promotion, with the firemen leaving little question in a 10-2 bombardment of Somerset Extros.

Striker Troy Furbert was in devastating form, recording a double hat-trick, scoring three times in both halves, while single goals came from David Malpas, Mark Wheddon, Steven Caines and Andrew Griffiths.

Douglas Durrant and Dwaine Richardson replied for Extros, who trailed 5-0 at the break.

Rams, the newly crowned champions likewise produced goals in abundance, trouncing Bermuda Pest Control 5-0 at Bernard Park behind goals from Ralph Bean, Mike Levon, Leroy Wilson, Cal Dill and Alan Smith.

Bottom club Belco surprised Devonshire Lions with a 4-1 win at St. John's Field where Kacy Butterfield (two), Oral Swan and Sinclair (Josh) Binns were on target for the victors, while Gary Bascome managed Lions' lone response.

Exiles continued the late season misery for Valley, beating them 3-2 behind two goals from Allan Johnson and one from Martin Siese. Kevin Isaac and Raymond Burrows tallied for the losers.

The day's other affair witnessed Prison Officers down Wolves Pack 5-2, Robert Edwards leading the way with a pair of goals, aided by Denton Leader, Reginald Pitcher and Ed Lightbourne.

Gary Peniston and Delroy O'Brien scored for Pack.
