Giles Spurling was a further two points behind in third.

The event, aimed primarily at advanced junior sailors, was the last until February when the Optimist's Blue Fleet competitors will sail out of the Sandys Boat Club in conditions expected to be more demanding as the youngsters prepare for a heavy domestic and international race schedule in 1998.

Plans are underway to bring in coaches possessing US national and international experience to further develop the Island's young sailors.

RUGBY Several young rugby players, back home from college for the Christmas break, are expected to turn out in the annual Renegades Youth versus Rest Youth fixture, scheduled for New Year's Day at National Sports Club.

The game is for players under the age of 23 and traditionally has proved one of the most popular matches on the rugby calendar.

The Renegades squad will hold a training session this Saturday at Nationals, starting at 12.00 noon. Those interested in playing for the club should contact coach Michael Kane on 236-9876 for further details.
