Pearman, Smith in showdown
semi-finals of the Bermuda PGA Lobster Pot Match Play Championship at Belmont yesterday.
Smith will now face Dwayne Pearman in today's final. Pearman yesterday defeated St. Georges' pro Kim Swan eight and six.
Smith won the fifth hole and later went two up on Bean after sinking a valuable 14 foot putt on the seventh hole for birdie. For the next four holes, par was good enough to beat Bean and Smith went six up. After halving the 12th Bean came back to win 13 and 14 but the match came to an abrupt halt when the pair halved 15.
Bean, however, wasn't too upset about losing the crown he won last year at Castle Harbour.
"I was just out there hacking today,'' said Bean yesterday. "Everybody wants to beat the champion and without the title next year, I'll be more motivated...I like coming from behind.'' Cornell Bean
