Pee Wees take centre stage

will get chance to steal the spotlight this Sunday with the fourth Heritage International Scholarship Classic at Bernard Park (9.45 a.m.).

The event has grown in popularity since it kicked off in 1992 with just two teams, Somerset and PHC. Since then eight teams have participated and that same number will again be present as two-time champions St.George's go in search of a third straight pee wee title.

The teams that will compete in the competition for six to eight-year-olds are St. George's, Devonshire Colts, Cross Roads Warriors and North Village who will be in the east division, and Somerset, PHC, Saltus and BAA in the west.

Each team will play three round robin matches in their group before the competition advances to the knockout stage with the final scheduled for 1.30.

Both North Village's Bernard Park field and Dellwood Primary will be used, with Bernard Park being the sole venue in the latter stages of the tournament.

Each match will consist of two 12-minute halves with a five minute break. In case of a tied match, penalty kicks will be used. The prize presentation will take place immediately after the final, to be followed by a parents match between the east and west selects.
