Pepsi Nationals continued at Coney Island on Sunday.
Zahkie Iris won the 50cc class with three wins, pipping Chad Sutherland in the final moto even though his wheel collapsed right on the finish line.
Gary Cann easily won the 65cc class with three wins while Tullio Escolastica was second overall with three second places.
Aaron Cannonier enjoyed a clean sweep of the 80cc class after his main challenger, Gary Cann, suffered falls and mechanical problems which held him back in fifth place. Loronzo Burch, returning from injury, finished second with Jerome Dowling third.
Melone Munro was the lone 80 Modified rider but she put on a good showg against other riders, climbing from last to third overall in some of the races.
Treadwell Nesbitt was the only class winner not to triumph in all three races as he could manage only a second in the second race of the 125C class. Jimmy Lee Weaver recovered from a spill two weeks ago to take second place with one win while Craig Ferguson was third.
Jamel Pitcher's riding continued to improve as he picked up another hat-trick in the 125B class where Wentworth Tucker had three seconds.
The 250cc bikes riden by Otis Ingham and Duprey Joell were not a factor in the races. Ingham placed third twice for third overall while Joell suffered suspension failure in the first moto which ended his day prematurely. However, he should be back in action for the next Nationals series on February 6.
TABLE TENNIS PP Fiqre Crockwell and Tyaun Burgess were the two age group winners of the St.
George's Cricket Club Youth Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday.
The 13-16 age group went down to the final game between Maxwell Curtis and Jelani Carlington to decide the top four positions after the pair had both earned 5-1 records with one game left. Crockwell (6-1) and Loren Marshall (5-2) had already completed their matches.
A victory for Carlington would have made him the winner of the age group by the `head to head' rule as he had beaten Crockwell 13-21, 21-9, 21-19. Curtis would then have finished third behind Crockwell.
But it didn't turn out that way as, after a series of long, exciting and tense rallies, Curtis prevailed with a 21-18, 16-21, 21-18 win to drop Carlington into fourth place with a 5-2 record.
Carlington's record was the same as Marshall who had previously upset Carlington 19-21, 21-6, 25-23. Marshall overcame three match points to earn third place.
In the 12 and under age group, 12-year-old Hamilton Parish youngster, Tyaun Burgess, beat all eight of his opponents on his way to the title. Rodney Trott was runner-up with a 7-1 record while Allan Douglas finished third with a 6-2 record after losing to Burgess 21-15, 14-21, 8-21 and Trott 18-21, 21-16, 15-21 in his first two matches.
