Pitch problem foils the Rams
further ahead in the Commercial Division Group B on Saturday.
The Rams' much anticipated clash with second placed Fire Service ended before it could even start, with the pitch at Police Field preventing any action taking place.
Rams thus remain first on 25 points, two more than Service, with the match rescheduled as part of a doubleheader at PHC on Thursday night.
Taking advantage of the gaffe were Valley, but they were presented no gifts by a surprisingly apt Belco bunch, who, despite having just 10 men for most of the affair, held their own at St. John's Field.
However, for all their effort Belco could not avoid falling to their eighth defeat in 13 matches and remain anchored at the foot of the standings.
Valley owed a debt of gratitude to Kevin (Mr. Heisman) Isaac, whose perfectly flighted lob during the latter stages found the back of the net for the winner, enabling Valley to move within a point of second place.
Also on the move were Wolves Pack, who rebounded from a shock midweek loss to lowly Exiles with an emphatic 7-1 thrashing of stablemates Devonshire Lions at the Den.
Samuel Lambe led the scoring with two goals, while Edward Swan, Gary Peniston, Vince Minors, Kurt Douglas and Gregory Talbot added single strikes.
Ernest McCallum netted the consolation for Lions.
A closely contested affair at Shelly Bay saw a suddenly hot Bermuda Pest Control edge past Prison Officers 4-3 behind a pair of goals from Anthony Francis and one each from Dudley Lightbourne and Vernon Tankard.
Ed Lightbourne, Denton Leader and B.Brangman were Officers' marksmen.
Ninety minutes failed to separate Somerset Extros and Exiles during their West End battle, with the score ending 2-2.
Extros looked like sweeping the visitors off the pitch as they rolled into a 2-0 lead after just 15 minutes, with Dwaine (Tricks) Richardson netting both goals.
But Exiles slowly came into their own, with speedy forward Alan Johnson pulling them within one and Frank Morgan levelling matters moments before the interval.
Both teams had chances to score in the second half, Donnie Simmons having a penalty saved by Carlos Durham, while at the other end Patrick Bean inexplicably sidefooted over the bar from four yards following a corner.
In Group A action BAA Wanderers won, leaving the rest to pick up the scraps.
The leaders' victims this time were Devonshire Colts All-Stars, as they fell 4-1.
Scorers for Wanderers, who led 2-1 at half-time, were Vincent Chaves, Steve Irvine, Mick O'Connell and Andy McCulluch, while Sandy Thomas tallied for the losers.
Holding on to second spot with 26 points, although still trailing first place by a hefty eight points are Island Rangers. They came from behind to defeat St. George's All-Stars, who had gone ahead in the fifth minute with a George Cannonier goal.
Rangers stormed back with Troy Berkeley equalising near the break and Blaine Outerbridge knocking in the winner 15 minutes from the end.
Robin Hood jumped a spot from fourth to third on the heels of a 2-0 win over slumping Spinning Wheel. John Beardsley netted both goals for the victors.
Dropping to fourth were Mariners, as Lobster Pot gained sweet revenge for a Tuesday night defeat, edging their rivals 1-0 with Tim Brown making the difference, scoring in the second half.
MR Onions and Forties battled to a 1-1 stalemate with both goals coming in the first half. Don Smythe tallied for Onions while Robert Jones scored Forties' goal.
