According to Vasco's Keith Jennings, many of the combined senior national team and under-23 squad travelling to Orlando on Tuesday see the tour as a rare opportunity to grab the attention of scouts from American clubs.

The 22-year-old Jennings has set his sights on being involved in both the Olympic and World Cup qualifiers for Bermuda this year -- but he also fancies his chances of landing a professional contract.

Three of the six friendly matches on the tour schedule will pit the Bermuda teams against Major League Soccer opposition in the shape of New York MetroStars, Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion.

"It will be good for myself playing against strong oppostion and maybe there's a chance I could get drafted by one of the MLS teams,'' said the Vasco forward.

"I think everybody's pretty much got that (getting a contract) in mind.'' Jennings made a bid to go pro in September last year, when he and Devonshire Colts striker Keishon Smith travelled together to Kansas City, for a 10-day trial with the National Professional Soccer League outfit.

Fellow national team players Meshach Wade and David Bascome play in the same indoor league for Harrisburg Heat in Pennsylvania.

Although both Jennings and Smith felt they performed well in the trial, contracts were not forthcoming.

"I think the clubs are only allowed to have a certain number of foreign players and the coaches had pretty much made up their minds who they were going to take,'' said Jennings.

"If we had stayed there a little longer, we might have had a better chance, but we couldn't, because of finances and other commitments.'' Jennings' 13 goals for Vasco in all competitions make him the equal top scorer in domestic soccer this season, but still he is not satisfied with his current form.

"I started off scoring a lot of goals but I've had a little slump the last couple of games -- I've just not been myself,'' said Jennings.

"I've been carrying a slight injury to my left knee and that might have something to do with it.'' Jennings thought he would be fit to play for Vasco in tomorrow's Premier Division clash with Devonshire Colts, but added: "I don't want to risk getting injured at this stage.''
