Police to travel to Philly
18th annual North American Soccer Championship Games in Philadephia.
The event, beginning tomorrow, is sponsored by the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge number five and is limited to persons in the field of law enforcement, active or retired. Over 300 Police departments throughout the United States, Canada have been invited to participate.
The event is held every year at a different venue and next year the event will be staged in Bermuda, with the proposed dates being September 8-15. The Bermuda Police socer section, under the direction of Cal Smith, will organise the games in Bermuda, with Smith acting as Liaison Officer for invited departments.
Smith will act as secretary and tour organiser of the Police team in Philadelphia and in the next few days he will be laying the groundwork for next year's event in Bermuda when it is anticipated some 500 athletes and family members, from about 40 teams, will be here.
Smith said that it will be the first time that the event will be held outside of the United States.
